New Houses, Extensions and Building Conversions for individual clients

Campbell McCrae Ltd has a record designing contemporary houses for individual clients and for the design of modern additions and adaptations to existing houses.

We help to create bespoke homes that build on our clients aspirations. We help our clients to produce buildings that meet and, hopefully, exceed their expectations.

Great care is taken to ensure that the clients requirements are incorporated into imaginative designs that relate well to the site and make the best of both orientation and prospect. In the limited northern light of Britain we pay great attention to the extent and the quality of natural light.

Keyston

Once the principle farmhouse including 570 acres of land in the Cambridgeshire countryside, this 1860's built property has a chequered history, having been used as a school and accommodation for the school mistress during the First and Second World Wars. Rightfully restored as a family dwelling in 1968, the property has undergone major building works over the last 50 years to ensure its continued suitability for family living.

The current owners were looking to extend the property to provide greater proportioned family oriented spaces. Full planning and Conservation Area consent was achieved for a 1.5 storey extension to the side, comprising a large Entrance Hall, Boot Room, Utility Room and Family Sitting area extending into a single storey glazed Garden Room to the rear. A Master Suite was created within the roof comprising a Dressing Room, En-suite and private balcony with views over the farmland and garden to the rear.

Many other works were carried out as part of the programme to restore the Farmhouse's character and status within the hierarchy of the Conservation Area. (Images 1 to 5)

Barn Conversions

We have successfully completed the conversion of many listed and unlisted farm buildings into residential use. (Images 6 to 9)

Hemingford Grey House

A large three storey listed early 19th century house had been badly altered in recent years.

It was extensively refurbished and extended to regain and enhance its original character. Curved brick pavilions with roof glazing were added to make the house. The old garage was converted to a roof lit nursery. The illustrations show ‘before’ and ‘after’ shots.

These include a new Eco House at Ramsey Heights in the fens designed with green energy and a minimum carbon footprint and riverside villa next to the Great River Ouse.
