Meet the Team

Chris McCrae, BSc (Hons) MCIAT

With over 10 years experience, predominantly in the residential sector (new build, extensions and conversions), Chris oversees all projects in the practice, providing specialist planning and technical knowledge.

Keen for Campbell McCrae Ltd to remain a friendly, local firm, Chris encourages clients to drop in, pone up or email whenever they like; whether it is to ask a pressing question, share a 'light bulb' moment, or just for a chat, Chris is keen that the business remains grounded and keeps its clients at the forefront moving forwards.

Chris is a graduate of The School of Arts and Technology (The University of Derby), with an honours degree in Architectural Technology and Digital Innovation. Chris is also a Chartered member of the Chartered Institute of Architectural Technologists (CIAT).

During his studies at University, Chris met his wife, Amy. They now have a young family (who regularly visit the team in the office), enabling Amy to carry out her role as company secretary.

Ben Sutton Dip Arch BSc (Hons)

Ben has been in the field of architecture for over 15 years, working on an array of residential and commercial projects. His diligence and technical ability have made him a very valuable member of the team. Ben fronts most of his projects and deals directly with many of our regular clients.

Ben has a young family who keep him and his wife on their toes during their down time. Again, Bens children are regular visitors to the office, challenging the guys to a Scalextrics race or two, and keeping the relaxed and friendly atmosphere which the company strives to retain. Ben enjoys festivals (the slower paced kind) and DIY, which has resulted in the recent (and continued) renovation of his home.

Bulent Basyigit, BSc Civil & Geomatic Engineering

Bulent provides Chris and the team with accurate measured surveys on which to base their proposals. With over 25 years experience in surveying, Bulent utilises the latest laser and GPS technology to generate topographical and measured building surveys. Campbell McCrae rarely stretch his capabilities, however every once in a while we hand him a nice ‘wonky’ listed building which spikes his interest (and blood pressure) somewhat.

Bulent also has a young family, who he enjoy sports and outdoor activities with.

Graham Campbell, DIP Arch, RIBA. MA Arch Cons

Graham is 99% retired now, but living next to the office, he can’t resist popping in to see what the latest project is (and to gloat that he is not working). Graham has over 45 years experience across the board in architecture, winning numerous awards for his conservation work and developments in Hong Kong. Graham consults on specialist projects, and provides the firm with a wealth of practice running knowledge.

Now that Graham has plenty of time on his hands, he fills it to the brim with family and friends. Graham is a keen cyclist, which often sees him taking part in weekend sportives and not so long ago, the gruelling 264mile Death Valley Cycle ride. Graham is well known locally for his work within the community (alongside his wife), being involved in several local society and council activities.

Amy McCrae, BA (Hons)

With a degree and background in teaching and education, Amy is renowned for being organised, and keeps the team (mainly Chris) in check. Working part-time, Amy deals with much of the day-to-day running of the firm including general administration and accounts.

As well as having impeccable taste in husbands... Amy is a fantastic mother to their two children, taking every opportunity to get out and about with them, hunting trolls in the woods and splashing in muddy puddles.
